IELTS Speaking: How to Talk About the Positive and Negative Changes to Your Hometown [ 📹 video]

Watch this new 1-minute video for ideas and vocabulary to describe the positive and negative changes to your hometown

Hi Pelawat,

Today you will learn how to talk about the aspects of living in your hometown, in case your examiner chooses that topic. You will get some ideas of things to describe, what to say and what vocabulary or expressions you can use.

The examiner can ask questions such as:

- What are the disadvantages of living in your hometown?

- What are the advantages?

- Has your hometown changed since you were a child?

- What is your favourite place in your hometown?

Watch the video below and you will know how to answer this type of questions:

I would like to thank Dina Kusainova (a great IELTS teacher from Kazakhstan) and Fatima (@amor.able in Instagram) for the footage from their hometowns that went into this short video resource.

What's next?

Pelawat, my next video will be on another Speaking topic that comes up a lot - a pet or an animal you like. Send me a video of your pet - a dog, a cat, a bird, a fish, a lizard, a turtle, you get the idea 😉 Your video can be as short or as long as you like, you don't have to say anything if you're worried about your English, and you don't have to edit it. Make it vertical if you can, send it to me as attachment or download link, or share via DM on Instagram - whatever works for you.

Looking forward to seeing your favorite animal!
