Our student took IELTS in Zimbabwe quite recently and remembered the following Speaking questions:
Study Tip
Go over these questions and think of some things to say and what vocabulary you would use. IELTS Speaking test questions and topic areas are known to repeat in many countries! Being familiar with the topic and specific questions increases your chances of success.
Once you have some ideas, answer the questions and record yourself. Then listen to your recording and check your fluency, intonation, gaps in vocabulary or words you may have mispronounced. Re-record anything you are not happy with, and you'll see that your next attempt sounds better already!
Speaking test
Speaking Part 1 (Interview)
- Where have you lived in the past 5 years?
- What kind of a house do you live in?
- What kind of a job do you expect to be doing in the next five years?
- Did you have a memorable childhood?
- What did you enjoy most in your childhood?
- At your current age, what have you learnt about life?
Speaking Part 2 (Cue Card)
Talk about a place where you usually go to relax. You should say
- what place it is and where it is located
- when you go there
- what you do there
and explain why you like going there to relax.
Speaking Part 1 (Discussion)
- Why are companies investing in health and fitness of their employees?
- Is exercise the only way to relax?
- Can using the internet help you relax?
- What do you think is more important, public health or the economy of a country?
- Do you think governments should prioritise investing in public health over their economies?
- What are the benefits of investing in public health?
